Spajalicu otvara izložba Wonderful Things will Happen tandema Žižić/Kožul.
U svojim projektima umjetnici istražuju metode, forme i sadržaje kojima marketinška industrija servira ideje sreće i prosperiteta, naizgled dostupne svakom pojedincu. Istražujući prostore realnosti i njezine prezentacije te praznine njihova raskoraka, podjednako ih sve kritiziraju kao spektar faktora neodrživoga stanja stvari. Imaginarij umjetničkih radova stoga podjednako grade simboli jada realnoga društvenog i ekonomskog svijeta (poput plastične boce) i simboli prosperiteta prezentiranoga marketinškog svijeta (šareni artikl).

This year’s Spajalica begins with Žižić and Kožul’s exhibition Wonderful Things will Happen. The main part of this exhibition is an installation called Inflatable Realities, which will be set up in Korzo, Rijeka’s main promenade. Beach accessories, from floats and swim rings to various beach toys, will be stranded on Rijeka’s walkway, but unlike real beach accessories, these are made of concrete. The hard material shatters our expectations of airiness and softness and suggests that ambivalence is the key to understanding our reality of post-transition and socio-economic discomfort. The installation carries the connotations of discrepancy between officially given images and real situations. Such discrepancy can be seen in flashy touristic propaganda on the one hand and shorelines covered in concrete and plastic on the other. It seems that the 1990ies euphoria about inclusion into society of prosperity is nothing but an inflatable reality.
In their work, Kožul and Žižić explore methods, forms and contents that marketing industry uses to paint the false pictures of happiness and prosperity. By exploring reality and the presentation of reality, including the gap standing between these two notions, these artists criticize the state of affairs, describing it as unsustainable.  Therefore, imagery of their works consists of symbols of social and economic misery (a plastic bottle, for example) and symbols of prosperity as presented by world of marketing (a multi-colored commodity).
